In the shadow of each painting (barely legible in this format) are two quotes from Ad Reinhardt. The first reads: "Art in not the spiritual side of business." The second: "Art as a sure thing is ugly." The converse of each is also true: business is not the spiritual side of art nor is beauty a sure thing. Business is not what art that is art is about. Art is the unsure thing; business is the bottom line. The business of business is to monetize the moment. There's nothing beautiful about art that can do that.
